Selected Reviews
"This is off-Broadway theatre at its best, and worthwhile supporting. Go see it before the season ends and be surprised at the inventiveness of the production!" (CityHub)
"Explores Lawrence’s complex and shifting responses to a raw society and to the ancient Australian landscape ... thought provoking ...gives the difficult character of Lawrence its full complexity." (South Sydney Herald)
"Sykes is an imaginative playwright and director, revealing many aspects of Lawrence’s life in a mere 90 minutes, using many of the styles that theatre offers." (City Hub)
"A well-rounded niche play for anyone with a keen mind for Australian history or fans of D.H Lawrence's work. I would recommend anyone to come and immerse themselves in Lawrence’s fleeting but profound visit to Australia" (Theatretravels) "Artistry ... thought provoking."( Sydney Arts Guide)
"There’s a gem of a show on at the Seymour Centre’s Sound Lounge that you simply must not miss... I cannot recommend this show enough." (City Hub) "A marvellous collaboration" (Sydney Arts Guide) "The audience was dancing and laughing along with the performers and most were more than eager to join in on the final dance." (Theatre Travels)
"Sykes has forged ahead with an honest and imperious view that reflects on the penitentiary system, Australian contact history, and the ravages of white settlement. The emotional complexities and moral dilemmas are part of it all. This unique play reopens some critical questions about who can tell and how do we understand our shared history" Sydney Arts Guide, Australia Felix
